Election 2008

I want to support the JDA - How do I make sure that I can vote?

Am I, or the other members of my family, eligible to vote?

This year for the first time ever under the newly reformed law, people are able to register to vote as soon as they reach their 16th birthday providing:

  • You have lived in the island continuously for a period of two years.

  • You have lived in the island for the past six months continuously and for additional previous periods of time that total a minimum of five full years (e.g. if you have temporarily left the island for work or educational purposes but then returned).

How do I register to vote?

Each year all twelve parish halls send out a registration form to every household or unit of accommodation within their parish.  In order to be eligible to vote in both the Senatorial and Deputorial 2008 elections you need to complete and return this form to the parish by the deadline of 12 noon on the date (shortly to be advised on this page) for 2008.

Should you have already missed this deadline and require a form in time to register to vote in the elections for Deputy you may obtain a form by:

  • Collecting one from your local Parish Hall, the States’ Greffe (based at Morier House) or from the Town Library.

  • Download one from this website. http://www.parish.gov.je

  • Or from the States Official Website providing election information  Click here

Should you think that you are registered to vote but be unsure you should phone your local Parish Hall immediately. Contact numbers for each of these are contained within the front section of the Jersey telephone directory.
